On July 7, 1833 she married Franz Roettecken (Rothaken) in Westhofen, district of Iserlohn, Westphalia. The couple had three children: Hermann Herbert, born on July 25, 1839 in Schwerte, Westphalia, Emil and Augusta. <br />Sophia Traugott married Traugott Eduard Thümmler in her second marriage. Traugott Thümmler was born on December 30, 1815 in Neukirchen near Crimmitschau in Saxony. At the time of the visit in 1873, his sister-in-law Hedwig Freifrau von Thuemmler and his nephew Joachim Freiherr von Thuemmler lived in Selka in the former Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg on the manor that had belonged to the family since 1817. Traugott's brother Ferdinand Thuemmler also lived on a manor in Miesitz. <br />The castle in Selka was blown up by the communists on the orders of the Soviet occupation administration in 1948. The manor house in Miesitz was also largely destroyed at this time.Sabina von Thuemmlerhttps://www.familiengeschichte4u.de/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-537999101514441161.post-49676396488802979572024-02-03T11:00:35.032-08:002024-02-03T11:00:35.032-08:00Thanks! This summer, the Pulaski County Historical Review published my tenth article on the topic, mostly about the George family, immigrants from Asch, Bohemia (Reichardt, Geyer, Penzel, and Wunderlich families), and a few other interesting characters associated with the Arkansas Staats Zeitung. I enjoyed Condray's book on the Echo and my most recent article takes a closer look at Dietzgen, the editor that caused so much trouble for the Echo. At present I am working on a research paper examining the role of German immigrants and their sons on the Little Rock city council from 1866 to 1915. My email address is dan.birchbay@gmail.com if you have any interesting family stories about your emigrant ancestors you would like to share. I was in Arkansas earlier this year and stopped by the Cass Cemetery where my grandparents Lily Samantha and Elias Nathania are buried along with their son John Lewis. I don't know much about the Harris family but drove through the northern part of Johnson County, where they lived before moving to Madison County, on roads linking Eureka Springs with I-40. The building still stands there owned by some art enterprise of the community now. Larry Stout was a friend and l also remember Beverly Daniel a class mate. You did a remarkable job of capturing the area. We used to spend hours in Walker pasture with a swing of cable to soar over the creek. And of course we’d skinny dip to cool down! I’ve kept up with Donald Shackleford over the years and drive the area but not so often as we now live in Kentucky. Allí conocí a militares estadounidenses. Enriquenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-537999101514441161.post-66412074066963313802022-11-02T09:06:09.818-07:002022-11-02T09:06:09.818-07:00I studied in Vienna in 1968 and 1969 I lived on ...I studied in Vienna in 1968 and 1969 I lived on the third floor of a huge apartment at the corner of Mariahilfestrasse and Getriedemarkt (over the Buchhandlung which was remembered by a lawyer friend in the 1980's who had left Vienna in 1938). I visited the Kriskindelmarkt every afternoon and could see it from my window overlooking the Messeplatz. The old woman with whom I lived told stories of Allied war planes flying over the Platz in the last days of WWII. When I visited Vienna in 1990, the building was still there, and the family name "Schultze" was still on the door but no one was home. The U Bahn had not yet been built. <br />Does anyone know if the building (address Getriedemark 6) is still standing? George Reichardt in his early years was driving cattle westward out to California. One of the obituary articles that my grandmother saved details many of his accomplishments and business successes. He led cattle drives through Utah to California. The Mormon colony there in Utah tried to persuade him to stay but he returned to Arkansas and invested the money he made during the cattle drives into the Miller & Penzel Grocery Company. He served as the president of Penzel & Co. He established a contracting firm of McCarthy & Reichardt building railroads in various parts of the county. He owned a tract of the Rock Island Railroad. In another article about George, he was said to be one of the most prominent businessmen in Little Rock. He was one of the founders of the German National Bank of Little Rock and of the German American Building and Loan Association. He was the treasurer of the Little Roch Warehouse Company from 1876-1878. He was the president of the Little Rock Mill and Elevator Company from 1896-1905. He was also elected president of the Little Rock Telephone Company from 1894-1909, which he founded shortly after attending an exposition in Philadelphia, which featured the telephone invented by Alexander Graham Bell. The Little Rock Telephone exchange was the 3rd exchange established in the country at that time.Bryan Kleesenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-537999101514441161.post-9722270058747802422022-10-09T14:42:52.816-07:002022-10-09T14:42:52.816-07:00When I was a 16 yr old American student in 1966, I...When I was a 16 yr old American student in 1966, I went to the Old Eden Saloon and brought one of the glass cowboy boot beer steins home. He even applied for a passport under the name Adam Penzel. DNA proves he was a Felker from the good ole USA for at least 2 generations.
